Leeds United have been rejected by their top target Andoni Iraola for the head coaching job.
The Elland Road club sacked Jesse Marsch as manager on Monday, given they are in relegation danger.
However, talks with Iraola of Spanish club Rayo Vallecano were unsuccessful.
Onda Cero's Raul Granado reports that Iraola received the Leeds offer but turned it down.
He is happy at Rayo and does not want to leave midseason for a relegation battle.
Leeds will now look to alternatives, with a trio of assistant coaches presently in charge of the first team.
