Real Madrid coach Carlo Ancelotti insists he was happy with their Champions League win against RB Leipzig.

Real needed two late goals from Fede Valverde and Marco Asensio for the 2-0 victory.

Ancelotti said, "That's a good win, even if we suffered a little in the first half. The most important thing was that we closed down the spaces we were offering behind our defensive line. We were playing a bit slowly so after the break we put much more energy into our performance."

On Valverde, he stated: "He's in great form. We've been asking him to take his runs into the opposition box for some time and now he's doing just that. He's showing all his qualities. And that doesn't just mean dynamism, he's got a great talent for finishing and he's got good positional sense."

Ancelotti also commented on Asensio after a controversial week.

He added: "I'm pleased for him. He got some minutes and he delivered. I think he really needed that goal. In the market he had doubts about whether to stay or leave but the fact that he's still with us makes all of us pleased.
