Real Madrid coach Carlo Ancelotti agrees with Pep Guardiola over the football calendar.

Guardiola has called for changes after Manchester City lost Kevin de Bruyne for four months with a hamstring injury. At Real, they've lost Thibaut Courtois and Eder Militao to season-ending ACL injuries.

Ancelotti said: "I totally agree. They try to improve the quality of the show by adding more minutes and matches, but to improve the quality what you have to do is take away the quantity.

"The problem is that the players and coaches don't paint anything. It seems that football is not as entertaining as it should be and they want to put in more to earn more money. This is the problem. Those most affected are the players, who suffer more injuries and cannot contribute their quality due to fatigue and injuries. I don't know when that will change."

Ancelotti also spoke of the serious injuries: "It is difficult to know the causes. You have to evaluate many things and we are evaluating them. Milito was very good at the level of strength and Courtois the same. We had no alarm in this sense.

"Sometimes there are players with unbalanced level of strength, but all the data evaluated did not give an alarm signal. With both of them it has been bad luck."
