- The alleged post, made in 2024, reportedly referenced the Nigerian community.
- Gibbins faces a charge under the Communications Act 2003, which was authorised by the Crown Prosecution Service.
- The 66-year-old is scheduled to appear before South Tyneside Magistrates’ Court on 21 August.
- Northumbria Police, who were alerted to the post in May, have urged the public not to speculate on the case. Gibbins was previously suspended and then reinstated by Reform.
