
- A Reform UK councillor, Peter Reeve, mistakenly referred to his former party, UKIP, after being elected in Peterborough.
- Speaking to the press following his win in Stanground South on Friday, Mr Reeve said: “Our message is: 'UKIP’s here, working hard with local communities.”
- He quickly corrected himself, clarifying that he had been involved in politics for 15 years, transitioning “from the UKIP days all the way to Reform”.
- Reeve previously served as UKIP group leader on Huntingdonshire District Council.
- Reform has seen a number of gains in this year’s local elections, taking multiple councils previously held by Labour for more than half a century.
