A STUDENT at a tahfiz school in Kajang sustained injuries after he was allegedly assaulted by fellow students at the same institution, prompting a police investigation into the incident.

Kajang district police chief Assistant Commissioner Nazron Abdul Yusof said a report was received at 11.28am on Tuesday following allegations that a tahfiz student had been beaten by three other students.

He said the victim suffered bruising and swelling on both his left and right hands, with the incident believed to have occurred at about 12.30am on 18 January.

The motive behind the alleged assault is still under investigation.

“Investigations are being conducted under Section 323 of the Penal Code, which provides for a sentence of imprisonment for a term that may extend to one year, or a fine that may extend to RM2,000, or both,” he said in a statement today.

Nazron also called on anyone with information related to the incident to come forward.

“Any party with information regarding the incident may contact the nearest police station or the investigating officer, Sergeant Muhammad Haniffa Abd Rajk, at 019-7356544 to assist in the investigation,” he said. - January 28, 2026
