- These new instalments will continue the narrative from A Court of Silver Flames, which was released in 2021.
- Speaking on the Call Her Daddy podcast, Maas said that the two books are closely connected and form the initial parts of a larger, multi-part storyline.
- The sixth book will cover the first part of the story, while the seventh will contain the second and third parts, with a fourth part planned for future development.
