The request for bail by a 47-year-old man accused of raping his underage daughter was denied by the Seremban sessions court. The offense falls under Section 376(3) of the Penal Code, carrying a potential maximum penalty of 30 years' imprisonment and 10 strokes of the cane upon conviction.
Deputy Public Prosecutor Goh Hsiao Tung opposed bail, expressing concerns that the accused might harass the victim. Goh revealed that the complainant, in this case, is a doctor and that the victim had been subjected to physical abuse after the incident. The prosecutor stated that the accused would face additional charges related to the reported beating, emphasizing that the victim was living with the accused at the time.
In a plea for bail, the accused cited being intoxicated during the incident and highlighted personal challenges, including caring for his father and being a disabled person. He claimed difficulty in finding work due to his age and impaired vision in his left eye.
When asked about securing bail, the accused mentioned his lover, but she was not present in court. It is noteworthy that the man is expected to face further charges under Section 324 of the Penal Code at the Kuala Pilah sessions court on the same day. The case continues to unfold, raising concerns about the well-being of the victim and the legal proceedings surrounding the accused.
