
RANAU: The 500-odd villagers of Kg Mentapok, a remote village on the Ranau-Telupid border hope more NGOs will visit to provide aid, also health screening and assess their needs.
“Many have moved out due to poor infrastructure,” said Weely Yukili, Chairman of the Village Development and Security Committee (JKKK).
The visiting groups were the Malaysian Red Crescent Society (MRCS) Kota Kinabalu branch, led by Chairman Remy Gunsalam, and representatives from Borneo Sinarmas Sdn Bhd, a healthcare provider that conducted free blood tests for the villagers.
The visit was in collaboration between Ranau district office with MRCS, KK branch and assisted by G6 4by4 wheel-drive club and Kinabalu Red Army 4by4 Motorsport & Recreation club.
