MANILA, Philippines — Interior Secretary Jonvic Remulla advised Vice President Sara Duterte to simply focus on her many problems instead of counter accusing that it was him who wanted “drama” for supposedly wanting to be jailed rather than post bail for her bailable grave threats case during the issuance of the warrant for her arrest last week.
“I think she has bigger things to mind than me. I’m just doing my job stating the facts. She has an impeachment going on. Maybe her energies are better focused on real world problems,” Remulla said in a text message.
During the vice president’s appearance at the Quezon City Regional Trial Court (RTC) for the arraignment of her cases, Duterte said the real drama was the “staged” arrest of former speaker Martin Romualdez, a cousin of President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. and Remulla’s close friend.
“Siya ‘yung may gusto ng drama. Ang totoong drama kung makikita ninyo ay ‘yung pag-aresto kuno kay Martin Romualdez,” Duterte told reporters in an interview at the Quezon City RTC.
The vice president said her camp will be releasing a statement addressing the issue.
Remulla earlier said Duterte wanted to be jailed for her bailable offense, seen being handcuffed, arrested and placed behind bars.
He said they did not allow her to perform such theatrics and accorded her the respect due to her office.
