Austria coach Ralf Rangnick has decided against a move to AC Milan after the World Cup, an Italian media report said on Friday.

The 67-year-old German has turned down the Serie A club, Italian sports newspaper Gazzetta dello Sport reported, despite his Austria deal expiring after the World Cup in the United States, Mexico and Canada.

Rangnick was reportedly targeted as sporting director at Milan, who missed out on a Champions League place in the season just finished and fired coach Massimiliano Allegri as well as the chief executive, sporting director and technical director.

According to the report, Allegri's successor on the bench is to be Austrian Oliver Glasner, who just won the Conference League with Crystal Palace.

Austria begin their World Cup campaign on Tuesday against Jordan.
