JERANTUT – Police today confirmed that they received a report regarding the incident of 10 dead kittens believed to be drowned in water at the Temin Wholesale Market here.
Jerantut District Police Chief Superintendent Azman Mat Kamis said a report was made by a 27-year-old man who found some of the animals dead at the scene at about 5pm on Wednesday.
He said the complainant made a police report at 6pm on Thursday.
"The complainant is not satisfied with the actions of the person who did that to the cats.
"Previously, the cats were fed by the man at the market," he said in a statement on Thursday.
Azman said preliminary investigation revealed that the incident took place in the market area and no closed-circuit cameras (CCTV) were installed.
Azman asked the public with information about the incident to come forward to aid investigation which was being conducted under Section 428 of the Penal Code.
Previously, the Malaysian Animal Association (Animal Malaysia) offered a reward of RM5,000 to track down the party responsible for the killing by soaking the cats reported to have happened in the market.
