Rescue ops at Batang Kali continue with help of K9 Unit

KUALA LUMPUR – The search-and-rescue operations continue for the 12 missing victims in the aftermath of the deadly landslide in Batang Kali, with the help of the K9 Unit.

This morning the tracker dogs belonging to the Civil Defence Force are back in action hours after the rescue efforts stopped at 4am due to the rain.

The Civil Defence Force, on its Facebook page, has shared a video of one of the dogs, a labrador named Tar in action. Tar is a certified tracker dog that has completed its training after the movement control order.

It was reported that to be part of the K9 Unit, the dogs have to undergo rigorous training by the Civil Defence Force.

The rescue operations yesterday were also aided by six dogs from the K9 Unit.

As of last night, 12 victims are still missing while 21 bodies have been found and 61 rescued out of a total of 94 victims involved in the landslide incident at a campsite in Batang Kali.

The search-and-rescue operations resumed at 8am today, involving the K9 Unit, Special Tactical Operation and Rescue Team, and Emergency Medical Rescue Services from the Bukit Sentosa, Ampang, Pandan, Kota Anggerik, Kajang and Andalas stations. – The Vibes, December 17, 2022
