LAHAD DATU: Some 21 members of the Lahad Datu Fire and Rescue Station (BBP) took part in a rope rescue training at Sepagaya Falls, last Saturday.
Head of BBP Lahad Datu, Sumsoa Rashid, said the training was attended by three Forestry officers.
He said all participants were involved in the “Rope Rescue and Swift Water Rescue” in preparing them for rescue system based on the concept of “transfer highline” using a rope.
“During training, the participants were given a briefing and basic training for rescue in a strong current and swimming skills,” he said.

Read more According to Sumsoa, BBP Lahad Datu is committed to carrying out exercises to strengthen rescue operations, improve skills and preparedness.
Meanwhile, a rescue training involving road accidents was also carried out for 13 firemen here.
Sumso said the exercise aimed to strengthen skills and preparedness of the participants during rescue operations.
“Following the increase in the number of road accidents, we conducted for 13 participants last Wednesday to strengthen rescue operations involving road accidents,” he said.
Tong Shern Scrap Metal Sdn Bhd was involved in the training by providing two used cars to be used as training material.
He said with this collaboration, members can practice and hone their skills using special equipment more often.
“We hope more parties will come forward to cooperate with BBP Lahad Datu in the future,” he said.
