On Sunday 14 June, in the town of Seneca Falls in New York State, USA, police had to step in twice in a single day to carry out a rescue.
Officers were alerted to a tiny kitten trapped inside the engine bay of a vehicle.
The person who spotted the kitten couldn't get him out. The space was far too tight, making it a very tricky task.
Making a dash for it
Officers teamed up with Chris Knapp, a local garage worker, to try and free the kitten safely. After a few tricky minutes, the rescuers managed to pull the kitten out safely.
But just as the rescuers thought the job was done, the kitten shocked them all. He bolted and dashed straight towards another parked car nearby. The officers and the mechanic were absolutely stunned to see the kitten squeeze himself right back into the engine of the second car...
A real team effort
The rescuers had no choice but to start the whole process all over again. After several attempts, they finally managed to get the kitten out safe and sound.
The police department shared photos on Facebook of the adventurous little kitten being held safely in their arms. Happily, the kitten is doing wonderfully well despite his ordeal. We are so relieved that he is now out of harm's way, and we certainly hope he stays well away from car engines in the future!
