As a management educator and human resource development (HRD) practitioner, I have shared with my colleagues and students the heads-up updates about the Reskilling Revolution - a World Economic Forum initiative to empower 1 billion people with better education, skills, and economic opportunity by 2030, driven by champions and partnerships - is evolving. From mobilizing commitments, it is now implementing systemic change by embedding skills into workforce transformation, economic policy, education & talent systems. While most efforts have focused on digital skills such as AI, big data and technological literacy, business leaders also strongly emphasize attitudes & human-centric skills, such as leadership, curiosity and resilience; over half are dedicated to preparing a green workforce. Reskilling is not just about adapting to change, it is about empowering. As a result, workforce transitions are becoming larger in scale, more frequent an more uncertain across economies and sectors, as learning, talent & credentialing systems fail to keep pace. Based on my own experience, upskilling means learning new skills to do better in my current job, while reskilling means learning different skills to switch to a new job or career. Both concepts are fundamental for modern career growth and workforce adaptability. In the face of this rapid technological and AI transformation, reskilling and upskilling have become essential strategies for both individuals and organizations. These processes equip me with the skills to adapt to new job requirements & remain competitive in ever-evolving job market. Reskilling & upskilling are no longer optional, they are imperative.

I found a wide range of free and subsidized upskilling courses are available in Malaysia through government platforms, national initiatives and on-line portals. Evidently, e-LATIH run by HRD Corp, this portal provides thousands of free online courses covering AI, digital marketing, cybersecurity, business. A national directory listing structured courses across major skill areas like cloud computing, accounting, creative design & also specialized training tracks. (www.myfuturejobs.gov.my)
