Manchester United made an attempt for Club Brugge goalkeeper Simon Mignolet over the summer.
Mignolet is being celebrated in Belgium this week after his heroics against Atletico Madrid saw Club Brugge secure a place in the Champions League round of 16.
In the aftermath, HLN reported that Club Brugge fought off attempts from United and Ajax to keep Mignolet this season.
United were in the market for a new reserve keeper and before signing Martin Dubravka on-loan from Newcastle United made an approach for Mignolet.
A move to Old Trafford would've been controversial given Mignolet's Liverpool background.
