Manchester United had an agreement with the agents of PSV Eindhoven winger Cody Gakpo.

The Red Devils were looking to sign the Dutch attacker in the summer, but opted to put all their money into Ajax winger Antony instead.

Transfer expert Fabrizio Romano, who spoke with The United Stand, United did have an agreement with Gakpo's reps.

The player thought he was Old Trafford bound, but United never put in an official bid to PSV.

They instead chose to spend a chunk of their transfer budget on Antony, while Gakpo ended up rejecting a late bid from Leeds United to sign him on deadline day.

A move to United is still possible for Gakpo next summer, if he continues his impressive start to this season.
