Revilla stays in jail for another 30 days after Sandiganbayan defers ruling anew on bail petition

MANILA, Philippines — It seems former senator Ramon Revilla Jr. may have to stay for another 30 days in jail after the Sandiganbayan deferred anew its decision on his and his co-accused bail petitions in the malversation case filed against them.

In a statement sent to The Manila Times, the anti-graft court's third division said the extension to begin on June 6, 2026 was due to the "volume of records generated by the proceedings and the number of transcripts of stenographic notes (TSN) containing the witnesses’ extensive testimonies.”

The court first reset the release of its ruling on Revilla's bail petition to May 7 after it included one filed by co-accused Jaypee Mendoza on April 27 and a supplemental memorandum with motion to admit filed by Juanito Mendoza on April 29.

Revilla and six others are facing charges of malversation through falsification before the anti-graft court in connection with alleged ghost projects in Pandi, Bulacan.

The other co-accused seeking bail include Brice Ericson Hernandez, Arjay Domasig, Emelita Juat, and Christina Mae Pineda.

Revilla is currently detained at the Quezon City Jail Custodial Center in Payatas.
