In the comprehensive enforcement operation named 'Op Bersepadu' conducted by the Melaka Road Transport Department (JPJ) along the Alor Gajah-Melaka Tengah-Jasin (AMJ) expressway, near Paya Rumput, a total of 275 summonses were issued, accompanied by the confiscation of three vehicles. The director, Muhammad Firdaus Shariff, revealed a spectrum of offenses uncovered during the operation, with the most prevalent being related to expired Motor Vehicle Licenses and absence of insurance, accounting for 142 summonses. Additional infractions included driving without a license (73 summonses), technical violations (21), and miscellaneous offenses (20).
This meticulous operation involved the inspection of 755 vehicles, resulting in enforcement actions taken against 132 vehicles for diverse violations. The breakdown revealed that 118 private vehicles, 13 goods vehicles, and one public service vehicle faced consequences for non-compliance. The success of the operation was attributed to the collaboration of 50 JPJ officers and members, eight personnel from the Royal Malaysia Police Traffic Investigation and Enforcement Department (JSPT), 18 from the Immigration Department, and 10 from the National Anti-Drug Agency (AADK). The collaborative effort extended its focus beyond private vehicles to include motorcycles, foreign drivers (PeWA), goods vehicles, and public service vehicles, all aimed at optimizing compliance and bolstering road user safety through strict adherence to the law.
Muhammad Firdaus Shariff underscored the significance of this strategic collaboration with various agencies, not only as an endeavor to enforce regulations but also to raise awareness among motorists. The operation, in particular, targeted unauthorized technical safety specifications and hazardous driving behaviors contributing to accidents. The director reiterated JPJ's unwavering commitment to sustained efforts through continuous enforcement operations, emphasizing the educational aspect to instill responsible behavior in road users. He stressed the importance of adherence to rules and responsible conduct on the road to mitigate risks and prevent negligence, asserting that enforcement actions against motorists operating without a valid license would persist. This integrated approach, combining enforcement and education, reflects the department's dedication to fostering a culture of road safety and responsible driving.
