Rewari district has witnessed a significant reduction in crime against women and property-related issues in the first five months of the 2026 as compared to the previous year (January to May).
Rewari Superintendent of Police (SP) Hemendra Kumar Meena said constant monitoring, strategic planning and strict enforcement of crime-control measures had led to the considerable drop in the district’s crime graph.
As per data, a 33.6 per cent decline has been recorded in crime against women, including a 58.3 per cent reduction in molestation cases.
The property-related crimes have also registered a 43.5 per cent decrease during the same period as compared to the last year. Likewise, a 40.3 per cent fall has been recorded in thefts of motor vehicles.
The data further reveals that snatching cases have reduced by 50 per cent in the first five months of 2026.
A considerable decline of 37 per cent has been registered in cases of theft, 66.7 per cent reduction in cases of extortion and 100 per cent drop in cases of robbery and dacoity.
Further, there has been a 62.5 per cent decrease in the number of murder cases and 100 per cent drop in culpable homicide not amounting to murder.
“A 28.1 per cent decrease has been recorded in the cases of serious mutual enmity and assault, 68.2 per cent dip in cases of assault due to minor disputes, 41.2 percent decrease in cases of cheating and 58.8 per cent drop in cases of fraud and forgery,” said the Police Department.
The crackdown on illegal weapons and illegal activities also resulted in a 7.7 per cent reduction in total crimes. This is primarily due to a 100 per cent drop in the cases under the Haryana Cow Protection Act.
“Maintaining law and order in the district and providing a safer environment to every citizen is the priority of the Rewari police. Our aim is not only to bring down the crime graph but also to instill unshakeable faith in the minds of common people and fear of law among criminals. The residents should immediately inform the police about any suspicious activity or criminal elements. Their identity will be kept completely confidential,” said SP Meena.
