RHB has announced revisions [PDF] to the RHB Shell Visa Credit Card/-i, which will take effect on 8 September 2025. The changes introduce a tiered cashback system that adjusts according to a cardholder’s total monthly spending.

Shell Petrol Cashback

Shell petrol remains the headline benefit of the card. Cashback rates range from 3% to 12%, with a monthly cap of RM30.

Grocery Cashback

Groceries remain an eligible category. A minimum spend of RM500 is required each month, with a cap of RM10.

E-Wallet and Online Spending

E-wallet top-ups and online purchases earn the same rates as groceries, also capped at RM10.

Utilities Cashback

Utility payments, such as electricity and telecommunications, qualify for cashback capped at RM10. A minimum spend of RM250 applies.

Overseas Spending

Overseas transactions are now included as a dedicated category, with a cap of RM50 per month and a minimum spend of RM500.

Other Spending

Other purchases outside the listed categories continue to earn 0.2% cashback, with no cap.

How It Differs from the Current Benefits

Currently, the card has a lower entry point, with cashback beginning at RM800 in monthly spending, and Shell petrol earns up to RM50 cashback each month. From September, the threshold will rise to RM1,000, and the petrol cap will drop to RM30.

Another important change is in how the caps are applied. At present, groceries, e-wallets, utilities, and petrol all share a combined cap of RM50. From September, each category will have its own individual cap, set at RM30 for petrol, RM10 for groceries, RM10 for e-wallets, RM10 for utilities, and RM50 for overseas spending. This new arrangement gives customers the chance to earn across multiple categories, although it reduces the maximum payout available for petrol.

Overseas transactions will be added as a dedicated category, offering up to 5% cashback with a RM50 cap. This benefits frequent travellers who make purchases abroad or in foreign currencies.
