Kota Kinabalu: Sabah FC and KL City FC played out a hard-fought goalless draw in the Sabah Maju Cup football tournament at Likas Stadium on Wednesday.
Both teams were unable to find the target on the slippery pitch although the home side had more opportunities in the first half while their opponents missed several chances in the second half.
Sabah FC remain in second spot with the one point earned behind KL City FC on goal difference with four points from two matches following their 2-1 win over Hougang United on Monday.
They will now need to get at least a draw in the final group match against Kuching City FC who earlier edged Hougang United 1-0 to qualify for the final to be played on May 5.

Read more Head coach Datuk Ong Kim Swee said after the game that he was satisfied with the team’s overall performance despite the stalemate.
“It was not an easy match as we all know KL City are a very good team. We made a lot of substitutions in the match because it was very important for our players to have more playing time before the start of the season.
“Overall, I would say our performance was quite good. However, the finishing touches were still lacking even though we created many chances.
“We need to bounce back when we play Kuching City FC in order for us to make it to the final,” he said.
Meanwhile, KL City FC head coach Miroslav Kuljanac said his players were exhausted but was happy with the draw.
“It was a tough game as I had expected. We played well and so did they. It was not easy for both teams to score goals.
“We had to make many changes during the match as well.
“Our players were a bit tired especially towards the end of the game because it was the third game in five days for the team,” he said.
