
AVERAGE retail prices of well-milled rice and fresh pork declined nationwide in mid-September, the Philippine Statistics Authority reported on Wednesday.
Well-milled rice retailed at P56.07 per kilogram (kg) from Sept. 15 to 17, down from P56.48 in early September and P56.29 in mid-August.However, the latest price was still significantly higher than the P47.22/kg recorded in mid-September 2025.Fresh pork averaged P295.58/kg, lower than P297.78 in early September and P298.38 in mid-August. It was also down from P327.03 a year earlier.Prices of round scad (galunggong) and calamansi also declined during the period.Galunggong averaged P242.77/kg compared with P248.54 in early September and P246.13 in mid-August. The price remained higher than the P232.37 recorded a year earlier.Calamansi dropped to P89.90/kg from P93.48 in early September and P98.53 in mid-August. However, it remained above the year-earlier price of P82.25.Meanwhile, prices of cabbage, red onions and cooking oil increased in mid-September.Cabbage rose to P143.85/kg from P125.29 in early September and P100.11 in mid-August. It was also higher than the P111.26 recorded a year earlier.Red onions sold for P144.86/kg, up slightly from P142.66 in early September and P142.76 in mid-August. The price, however, was well below the P180.41 recorded in mid-September 2025.Cooking oil increased to P201.47 per liter from P200.91 in early September and P200.55 in mid-August. It was also higher than the year-earlier price of P186.68.
