Richard E Grant denies claims he staged early Celebrity Traitors exit

  • Actor Richard E Grant has strongly denied claims that he intentionally exposed his identity on The Celebrity Traitors in order to exit the BBC show early.
  • Grant was chosen as a traitor alongside Love Island host Maya Jama, but inadvertently confessed his secret role shortly afterwards, leading to his swift elimination as the first banished celebrity.
  • Addressing rumours from reports claiming production staff suspected him of staging the mistake, Grant stated on Instagram that the allegations were categorically false and emphasised that he is a huge fan of the show.
  • The actor admitted that revealing his identity so early in the game was a catastrophically idiotic mistake, adding that his daughter had previously warned him he would be incapable of hiding his true feelings.
  • The current series of The Celebrity Traitors continues airing on the BBC at 8pm on Thursday nights, with the final scheduled for Friday 30 October.
