Rider returns to apologise after taking customer’s food

Kuala Lumpur: A food delivery rider who was caught on CCTV taking part of a customer’s order later returned to apologise, claiming he acted impulsively because he was hungry.

Footage shared online on Monday showed the rider placing three orange bags of food outside customer Jeffrey Izad’s home before photographing the delivery.

The rider, dressed in a blue jersey and black pants, was then seen picking up one of the bags and leaving the scene after confirming the order.

Izad reportedly discovered the missing meal after returning home and was unable to contact the rider before reviewing CCTV footage and reporting the matter to the food delivery platform.

Sin Chew Daily reported that the footage, first uploaded on Threads by Izad, later spread across social media platforms and reportedly attracted more than one million views before being removed.

Izad later revealed that the rider returned to his house the same afternoon to apologise and admitted he had taken the food on impulse because he was extremely hungry.

The rider reportedly said online criticism had affected both him and his wife, while Izad and his wife decided to forgive him and reminded him that he should ask for help if facing hardship as Malaysians were generally willing to assist.
