KOTA KINABALU: Chief Minister Datuk Seri Hajiji Noor said the State Government has allocated about RM10 million to the Sabah Women’s Affairs Department (Jhewa) for programmes to develop and empower women leaders.

He said women’s development remains a priority, with more women now in policy and decision-making roles in government.

“I hope women empowerment efforts such as this symposium will continue to be supported not only by the government but also the private sector, civil society and local communities,” Hajiji said in a speech delivered by State Community Development and People’s Wellbeing Minister Datuk James Ratib.

About 3,000 women attended the Sabah Women Leaders Symposium, the culmination of initiatives including the Engagement with Sabah Women’s Leaders programme and the Women’s Lab workshops which shortlisted 75 leaders for the Global Women @ Sabah (Glow@Sabah) project.
