RM260,000 love scam losses may have triggered Desa ParkCity family deaths

PETALING JAYA: A man is believed to have killed his wife and two children at a condominium in Desa ParkCity, Persiaran Residen Kepong, yesterday after allegedly becoming distressed over his wife’s involvement in a love scam that resulted in losses and debts of about RM260,000.

The 48-year-old suspect was later found to have fallen from the condominium unit.

Kuala Lumpur police chief Datuk Fadil Marsus said preliminary investigations indicated that the suspect had allegedly left a note on the dining table expressing his regret over his wife’s actions.

He said the woman was believed to have continued communicating with an individual suspected of being involved in the alleged scam.

“The suspect is believed to have felt that his wife’s actions had gone too far and that he was ashamed in front of their children.

“He is also believed to have suffered losses and accumulated debts amounting to about RM260,000 as a result of the matter,” he said today.

Police also found a knife and a pair of gloves believed to be connected to the incident.

Fadil said the items were discovered in a drawer in the master bedroom and were believed to have been used during the incident.

He said investigations were ongoing to establish the motive and determine the circumstances surrounding the deaths.

“The post-mortem examination on the nine-year-old girl was completed at Kuala Lumpur Hospital (HKL) at about noon today.

“Initial findings showed that she had suffered a stab wound measuring about 5cm on her neck,” he said.

Fadil added that a post-mortem on the woman’s body would also be conducted, while examinations on the other victims were expected to continue.

He said the suspect’s body was expected to undergo a post-mortem tomorrow after HKL’s forensic team visits the scene.

It was reported yesterday that four members of a family had died following an incident at the condominium, with three of them believed to have been murdered.

Police received a report at about 3.32pm concerning a 48-year-old man who had fallen from the condominium.

Fadil said officers subsequently went to the man’s residential unit and, with assistance from the Fire and Rescue Department, gained entry to the premises.

Three bodies were then discovered in separate rooms.

The victims were identified as a 47-year-old woman, believed to be the suspect’s wife, and their two children, a nine-year-old girl and a seven-year-old boy.

“All three victims were found to have suffered serious injuries to the neck,” he said.
