As police carry out investigations into the incident, new details have emerged that may help in shedding light on what allegedly led to the family’s demise.
All’s not well at home
Speaking to China Press, acting Sentul district police chief Jasni Zolpa said the man, who fell to his death at the condominium, had been separated from his wife for several months and lived at another location before moving back into the unit a month ago.
He added that a suicide note was also found at the scene, which reportedly read:
Thank you to my parents, family and friends. I love all of you, and I love my kids too. Goodbye and please take good care of yourself.”
Based on the note, police believe the motive may have been related to personal disputes and debt problems.
Jasni added that neighbours claimed to have heard arguments coming from the unit as well.
Love scam led to murder-suicide
Further details were later revealed by Kuala Lumpur police chief Datuk Fadil Marsus, who said a love scam was what led to the tragedy.
He said according to the suicide note, the man expressed regret and distress over his wife’s alleged involvement with a love scammer, which spiraled into losses and debts totalling RM260,000.
The wife was said to have continued trying to contact the scammer, and the suspect felt that her actions had gone too far. He also felt ashamed in front of his children,” he added.
The case is being probed under Section 302 of the Penal Code for murder.
