Kuala Lumpur: Keningau MP Datuk Seri Dr Jeffrey Kitingan asked the Communications and Digital Ministry (KKD) to channel RM3 million from its RM36.824 million allocation to TV Sabah to develop television broadcasting programmes.
Jeffrey, who is also Sabah Deputy Chief Minister I, said the Sabah Government is encouraging the creative, film and broadcasting industries in the State through online platforms.
“One of the online broadcasters is TV Sabah which focuses on Sabah content that includes the uniqueness of Malaysia,” he said when debating KKD’s allocation in Parliament.
He insisted that the content of the Sabah broadcast is in line with the RTM broadcast which supports the heritage and culture of Malaysians.
According to Jeffrey, the financial allocation also supports RTM in giving space and opportunities to creative content, music and film industry players from Sabah and Sarawak.
He said the financial allocation aimed at covering the cost of infrastructure, equipment and assets could catalyse the development of the country’s creative content industry involving digital creative and animation.
