Kota Kinabalu: Approximately RM30,000 in funds have been raised for a 19-month-old toddler from Kota Marudu who was recently diagnosed with stage 3 ovarian cancer.

Daneen Auni Riksi, who was admitted to the Sabah Women and Children’s Hospital (HWKKS) in Likas, underwent her first chemotherapy session on Thursday.

According to her mother, Fallarystia Sintom, 25, many people have reached out to offer donations as soon as their story was made public in the media.

“Donations have been coming in since yesterday (Wednesday), and people have been contacting us non-stop through messages.

“This is because chemotherapy treatments can cost thousands of ringgit, including the long-term care that will be needed,” she said.

Fallarystia shared this update when contacted by Daily Express Thursday regarding the progress of the funds raised.

She added that she has not yet had any discussions with her husband about the estimated cost of their youngest child’s treatment.

“But we will discuss it, and we also want to decide on a timeline for raising the necessary funds, which we will announce soon,” she said.

When asked about her daughter’s treatment, Fallarystia said Daneen is currently in stable condition.

“Yesterday, a chemo port was inserted into her before her first chemotherapy session began today (Thursday).

“After it finished at 2pm, my daughter was doing well.

“However, her condition will continue to be monitored for any side effects after the treatment. That’s why her blood is taken every week for further monitoring,” she said.

Previously, Fallarystia mentioned that the doctor had informed her that chemotherapy could take a long time until the cancer cells are eliminated.

“But I continue to hope that my daughter will be free from this cancer,” she said.

Fallarystia and her husband had not expected that their daughter’s prolonged crying since August was a sign that she was suffering from stage 3 ovarian cancer.

Daneen Auni was diagnosed with the cancer on Oct 2, following surgery at HWKKS.
