Kota Kinabalu: More than RM40,000 was raised in the Jesselton International–SGCC Invitational 2025 programme organised by Sabah Golf and Country Club (SGCC) in collaboration with Jesselton International, which was held at the club on September 5-6.

The two-day event started with the junior golf clinic on the opening day conducted by SGCC junior golf development programme coaches from Beyond Impact and a few touring professionals.

The participating golfers aged 6–18 were given tips on swing techniques, short game, putting, and course strategy.

A tournament was staged on the following day participated by 74 golfers in an 18-hole strokeplay format featuring touring professionals Ervin Chang, Genevieve Ling, Geraldine Wong, and Allycia Gan, alongside homegrown stars Ben Leong, Casper Loh and Aretha Pan.

It offered a RM25,000 prize purse, premium goodie bags, and exciting on-course challenges such as longest drive, nearest-to-pin, and straightest drive.

There were also additional fundraising initiatives with raffle ticket sales, silent auctions, Pro-Am flight and corporate tee sponsorships.

SGCC president Ian Yong said the amount they managed to raise will be channelled to support the club’s aspiring junior and amateur programmes.

He also expressed his gratitude to all the parties involved in giving their support to ensure the success of the event.

“This signature event was concluded successfully and reached our goal thanks to the overwhelming support from the young talents, the golfing community and the strong backing from our sponsors and partners,” he said.
