Kota Kinabalu: Health Minister Datuk Seri Dr Dzulkefly Ahmad has approved RM500,000 for new equipment at the Sabah Dental Specialist Centre, East Malaysia’s only standalone dental specialist referral facility.
The allocation covers plaque-management devices, surgical and documentation cameras and an intraoral scanner, among other equipment.
Since opening in January, the centre has recorded more than 8,500 patient visits.
It has also doubled its monthly treatment capacity and reduced waiting times for specialist treatment from three years to 18 months.
Dzulkefly announced the allocation during a visit to the centre here Saturday.
