RM70k each for four Penampang schools

PENAMPANG: Member of Parliament Datuk Ewon Benedick said RM280,000 would be channelled to four secondary schools here to make the cooperative development and school excellence programme successful.

The Entrepreneur Development and Cooperatives Minister said the four schools are SMK Datuk Peter Mojuntin, SMK St Michael, SMK Limbanak and SMK Bahang.

“RM200,000 of the said amount is an allocation from the cooperative development that will be presented by the Malaysian Cooperative Commission (SKM) while the rest RM80,000 are from the Penampang MP Fund.

“Each secondary school cooperative in the Penampang area will receive a cooperative development allocation of RM50,000 to mobilise entrepreneurship activities through their respective cooperatives and another RM20,000 for various school excellence programmes.

Also present were Penampang District Deputy Education Officer (School Management Sector) Ag Mohd Kadir Ag Kanak, SMK Datuk Peter Mojuntin Principal Haji Md Rahim Haji Md Lair, senior school assistants, teachers and students.

Ewon said he would continue to seek funds for the other needs of all schools in Penampang.

“Previously, we have collaborated with Yayasan Bank Rakyat which is a foundation placed under my Ministry to help schools in the Penampang and Kadamaian areas.

“I hope that corporate companies and premier cooperatives can also implement their respective corporate social responsibilities (CSR) to help schools in need, including the need for school vans. I will discuss with them how this need can be realised,” he said.
