RM856 million allocation is accounting adjustment, says Masidi

Kota Kinabalu: The Sabah Government's financial management and accounting adjustment system has been in place for more than two decades and has never been queried by the National Audit Department, Finance Minister Datuk Seri Masidi Manjun (pic) said.

Winding up the debate on the Supplementary Supply Bill 2026 at the State Legislative Assembly on Tuesday, he said the RM856 million allocation under Contributions to Statutory Funds was an accounting adjustment exercise to regularise government transactions and did not involve any cash outflow.

Masidi said RM700 million was allocated to the Development Fund, RM66 million to the State Government Trust Fund and RM90 million to the Road and Bridge Operations and Maintenance Trust Fund, adding that none of the contributions involved Government-linked companies or State statutory bodies.

He said additional allocations were sought due to factors including rising operating costs, project implementation delays, changes in project scope, inflation and policy changes, after ministries and departments had first optimised their existing allocations.

Masidi said the Government has strengthened monitoring of development projects through the Sabah Economic and Development Project Information System, State and District Development Action Committees and ministry-level steering committees, before the State Legislative Assembly passed the Supplementary Supply Bill 2026.
