The Rumah Mesra Rakyat programme provides affordable homes and long-term stability, with RM500 million allocated for over 6,500 units nationwide.
TEMERLOH: The Rumah Mesra Rakyat (RMR) programme symbolises stability and a better future, not just affordable housing.
Deputy Minister of Housing and Local Government Datuk Aiman Athirah Sabu (pic) said the initiative offers comfortable, quality homes for the low-income group.
“A house is not merely a place to live, but a place to build a life and a family,” she said at a keys handing ceremony.
The government and Syarikat Perumahan Negara Berhad (SPNB) jointly run the programme to expand access to quality housing.
Aiman Athirah said it helps rural landowners own their homes.
Each RMR unit features 750 square feet with three bedrooms and two bathrooms.
It is priced at RM75,000 with a RM20,000 government subsidy.
The remaining RM55,000 is financed through an interest-free loan of up to 16 years.
Budget 2026 allocated RM500 million to construct 6,545 RMR units nationwide.
Pahang was allocated 680 units, with 160 currently being implemented.
The Temerloh constituency has received 1,933 applications since 2002.
A total of 555 units have been completed and handed over there.
Another 18 units are under construction to meet local housing needs.
SPNB chief executive officer Mohd Jamil Idris advised applicants to contact state offices directly.
He urged people to use the official website and avoid third parties on social media.
