RANAU: A late-night landslide brought down a tree that blocked access along a road at the Taviu Spring rest and recreation area in Kampung Toupos, here, on Saturday.
Ranau Fire and Rescue Station chief Rantey Fred said an emergency call was received at 11.35pm, prompting the dispatch of a two-man team in a utility vehicle to the scene located roughly 66 kilometres away.
Firefighters arriving at 12.45am worked alongside three police personnel and five Pan Borneo crew members to cut up the fallen tree with a chainsaw and clear the carriageway.
The operation was brought under control at 2am and wrapped up completely by 3.55am following safety checks, with no injuries or casualties reported.
Rantey said the site was subsequently handed over to the Pan Borneo team for further monitoring, while advising motorists to remain cautious and avoid traversing unstable slope areas until authorities declare them safe.
