NLEX guns for a 3-0 start under new coach Jimmy Alapag, while San Miguel Beer makes its debut in the PBA Season 50 Governors’ Cup as action continues on Tuesday at the Ynares Center in Antipolo.
The Road Warriors opened the new conference with back-to-back wins against Macau Giant Pandas (114-75) and Terrafirma Dyip (101-100) with Alapag now at the helm.
The Road Warriors are out to continue their winning streak against the winless Titan Ultra Giant Risers (0-2) whom they face at 5:15 p.m.
“I think it showed that we still have a lot of work to be done. I said it the last game, it’s still a long way to go. There’s still so much season left,” said Alapag, whose team blew a 23-point lead and had to survive the Dyip’s fourth quarter rally last Sunday.
“Of course, there are so many teams in the PBA that have a lot of talent, a lot of experience. We’re still learning. Our guys are still learning, I’m still learning, so still more work to be done,” stated Alapag entering only his second week of handling the team.
Titan Ultra hopes to avoid sinking to a third straight defeat with original import choice Tirrell Brown set to reinforce the squad under coach Renzy Bajar.
The 32-year-old Brown hopes to bring in the energy and offense for Titan Ultra, which failed to play its import James Millton, who failed to get his FIBA clearance.
Brown is coming off a stint with Caimanes in Colombia where he averaged 13.8 points, 6.0 rebounds, and 1.4 assists.
Meanwhile, the Beermen are out for redemption since coming off a failed championship bid in the Commissioner’s Cup.
SMB will have explosive import George King, who is best remembered for his scoring prowess during his two-conference stint previously with Blackwater.
