Wrexham co-owner Rob Mac is already looking forward to the 2026 World Cup and the potential friendly rivalry it will create with Ryan Reynolds.
Rob and Ryan have just overseen the Red Dragons’ best-ever season, in which they finished seventh in the Championship, narrowly missing out on a play-off place on the final day.
But attention has quickly turned away from club football and towards the World Cup, where Mac is going to be showing his support for Scotland and New Zealand.

Rob Mac to show support for Scotland and New Zealand at 2026 World Cup
Up until Rob and Ryan bought Wrexham, it was very, very rare that their players would receive international call-ups, never mind feature at a World Cup.
In fact, in 2026, the Dragons will have a player competing at the tournament for only the second time in their storied history.
Dom Hyam, who arrived at the Racecourse Ground from Blackburn Rovers last summer, is set to represent Scotland.
Elsewhere, fellow 2025 summer addition Liberato Cacace has been called up to the New Zealand squad.
In turn, when discussing the World Cup during an interview with Sports Illustrated this week, Rob revealed he will ‘definitely be rooting for New Zealand and Scotland’ because of Cacace and Hyam.
He said: “What an honor for the players, and what an honor for the club, to have international call-ups. We’ve had to get used to it because it’s happening much more often now. At first, we’d just get a text or a call saying we were going to lose somebody for the week or the weekend, and that was all pretty new to us.
“In the National League, League Two and League One, it happened very rarely. Now it’s becoming much more common, which is a great sign for the club. “But you really miss those players when they leave. At the beginning, we kept wondering why and how we were losing players so consistently.
“Then you talk to them, and of course it means everything to them. Representing your country and receiving an international call-up is a dream come true for so many players. So we’ll definitely be rooting for New Zealand and Scotland.”

Rob Mac ready for World Cup rivalry with Ryan Reynolds
Mac will, of course, also be supporting the USA this summer, while fellow Wrexham co-owner Reynolds will be backing his home country of Canada for success.
On bragging rights between himself and Ryan being on the line at the World Cup, he said: “Of course. A few years ago, he went into Canada’s locker room and fired up the team. I don’t think they won that game, though, so I’m not sure whether he’s a good-luck charm or a bad one. Who’s to say?
“Then again, it took me six or seven games before I finally got to watch Wrexham win, and everything turned out O.K. after that.”
The USA have been handed a favourable World Cup group, competing against Australia, Paraguay and Turkey.
Canada, meanwhile, will take on Bosnia and Herzegovina, Qatar and Switzerland as they aim to progress to the knockout rounds.
