A would-be robber was shot and killed by a security guard at a goldsmith shop in Petaling Jaya.

PETALING JAYA: A robbery attempt at a goldsmith outlet, here, ended fatally for the suspect on Monday morning after he was shot by a security guard during a confrontation at the premises.

The incident unfolded at around 11am when a man, believed to have arrived at the shop on a motorcycle, entered the outlet and attempted to carry out a robbery while armed with a sharp object. The shop had no customers present at the time.

The suspect was first engaged by one of the security guards on duty, with whom he struggled. A second guard, upon witnessing his colleague being overpowered and injured, drew his firearm and discharged two rounds at the suspect.
