• The controversy stems from allegations in The Sunday Times that Farage failed to declare donations from his friend, convicted criminal George Cottrell, including payments for security, accommodation, and staff.
• Jenrick defended Farage, stating the gifts were “in a personal capacity” and occurred before Farage became an MP, calling the allegations “an old story” with “nothing to see here”.
• Labour and the Liberal Democrats have called for a sleaze inquiry into Farage, who is also facing questions about not declaring three of his five homes in the register of interest.
