The singer, 81, cancelled his gig at the North Island Credit Union Amphitheatre in Chula Vista on Friday after receiving advice from doctors.
“Rod Stewart very regretfully has had to cancel his show tonight in Chula Vista, California,” a statement posted on his official Instagram account read.
The singer appeared in good spirits in a video he shared on Instagram on Saturday, as he joined in with his sons chanting and dancing.
He captioned the video: “Me and the boys off to Boston to see our Scotland in the World Cup! No Scotland no party."
