As thousands of patients and their families make their way to Dr BSA Hospital in Rohini every day, one of the long-standing accessibility issues around the adjoining Rohini West Metro Station is now set to be addressed.
Delhi Lieutenant Governor (L-G) TS Sandhu has approved the transfer of land to the Delhi Metro Rail Corporation (DMRC) for the installation of a lift at the metro station, a move expected to ease access for patients, attendants and regular commuters using the route.
The decision comes after an earlier proposal for the land transfer had been rejected by the Land and Building Department of the Delhi Government. The department had cited the policy, dated March 15, 2024, and held that the DMRC did not fall within the ambit of the eligibility criteria prescribed for such transfers.
According to the approval, the land belonging to the Delhi Development Authority (DDA) will now be transferred to the DMRC, enabling the installation of the lift at the station located next to the hospital. The move is expected to benefit a large number of visitors to the healthcare facility, many of whom include elderly patients, persons with mobility challenges and attendants accompanying them.
In a separate decision aimed at strengthening Delhi’s renewable energy infrastructure, the Lieutenant Governor has also approved the allotment of nine bighas of Gram Sabha land in Issapur village in South West Delhi for the establishment of a 66 KV/11 KV Solar Pooling Substation.
The land, owned by the DDA, has been allotted to the Power Department of the Delhi Government free of cost on a lease basis for a fixed tenure of 99 years.
