Over 1,500 applications for family income verification under the Parivar Pehchan Patra (PPP) scheme remain pending in the district, prompting the authorities to take strict action against local verification committees headed by school teachers.
The delay has left hundreds of applicants awaiting confirmation of their family income, forcing many to repeatedly approach officials for updates on the status of their applications.
Taking serious note of the backlog, the office of the Additional Deputy Commissioner-cum-District Citizen Resources Information Officer has instructed District Education Officials to ensure that the verification work assigned to teacher-led teams is completed within a week.
The authorities have also released a detailed list of team leaders along with the number of pending cases under their jurisdiction, highlighting significant backlogs in several villages across the district.
“Delays in income verification can hinder citizens’ access to various government welfare schemes linked to family income data. Timely verification is therefore essential to ensure that eligible beneficiaries receive government benefits and services without unnecessary delays. The district authorities have directed all concerned team leaders to accord priority to the verification process and clear pending cases within the stipulated time frame,” said an official, requesting anonymity.
Sources in the administration stated that regular monitoring of the verification exercise is undertaken, and progress reports are reviewed periodically to ensure accountability and efficiency. Consequently, the authorities have sought time-bound completion of all pending cases from the education officials.
“Multiple committees have been constituted at different levels to verify the details provided by applicants, particularly the income declared while applying for a Parivar Pehchan Patra, which is required for various purposes. After submission, the applications are forwarded to the concerned committees for verification. A committee is headed by a teacher as well, and many applications remain pending at this stage due to delays in income verification,” the official added.
