In a move aimed at strengthening industry-academia collaboration and preparing students for emerging technologies, Maharshi Dayanand University (MDU), Rohtak, has signed an MoU with AI-driven digital manufacturing firm Avitri Intelligence Private Limited.

As part of the collaboration, a Centre of Manufacturing AI Excellence (COMAI) will be established on the university campus to promote innovation, skill development and research in advanced manufacturing technologies.

The MoU was signed by MDU Registrar Prof Sandeep Bansal and Avitri Intelligence Founder and Chairperson Mrinalini Chaudhary, in the presence of Vice-Chancellor (VC) Prof Milap Punia. Dean Academic Affairs Prof A.S. Maan, deans, teachers and company officials were also present on the occasion.

“The collaboration will focus on key areas such as AI, robotics, software development, digital solutions and manufacturing technologies. Under the agreement, students and faculty members will get opportunities to participate in joint research projects, industry-led assignments and hands-on training programmes aimed at bridging the gap between academics and industry requirements,” said Pankaj Nain, Public Relations Officer of the university.

The VC said that the present era is shaped by AI, Big Data, the Internet of Things and other emerging technologies, making it imperative for universities to equip students with future-ready skills.

“Students are the future of society and the nation, so universities must prepare them to meet global challenges through innovation and technological competence. The initiative aligns with the vision of the National Education Policy (NEP), 2020 to integrate education with industry needs,” he added.

Dean Prof Maan said the partnership would provide students and faculty with opportunities for collaborative research and industry-oriented projects, enhancing their practical exposure and employability. Prof Sandeep Bansal, Registrar, said the agreement would serve as a strong platform for connecting academia with emerging industrial technologies.
