Selangor police state the investigation into the August 22 Sunway Lagoon roller coaster incident will take three to four months.

SHAH ALAM: The probe into the Aug 22 roller coaster incident at Sunway Lagoon Theme Park will take three to four months to complete, said Selangor police chief Datuk Shazeli Kahar.

He said a detailed investigation is under way, with forensic teams, the state Department of Occupational Safety and Health, and the Fire and Rescue Department examining technical aspects at the scene alongside other agencies.

“We estimate the inquiry will take at least three to four months,” he said during a media conference at the Selangor contingent police headquarters, here today.

He said police have so far recorded statements from several individuals, including theme park employees, roller coaster staff, victims, and medical officers.

“We do not rule out calling in additional individuals to give statements, particularly regarding technical aspects,” he said.

Subang Jaya district police chief ACP Wan Azlan Wan Mamat previously reported that 10 people sustained minor injuries in the roller coaster incident at the theme park.

The incident occurred at around 9 pm on Aug 22, with a police report lodged at 11.45 am the following day.

Speaking at a previous media conference, Shazeli confirmed that investigators were looking into all possibilities, including potential negligence or foul play.

Regarding the Aug 20 attempted jewellery store heist in Klang, Shazeli confirmed the investigation is under way, with police actively pursuing promising leads, adding that police will share further updates and breakthroughs on the case in due course.
