Newly elected FAM vice-president 1 Datuk Seri Rosmadi Ismail aims to leverage his extensive experience to strengthen national football governance.
PETALING JAYA: Football Association of Malaysia (FAM) vice-president 1 Datuk Seri Rosmadi Ismail hopes his experience in state association and the national body’s administration will help strengthen national football governance.
He said his re-election to the post provided an opportunity to contribute to the leadership of new FAM president Datuk Ab Ghani Hassan.
He added that his experience with FAM, including his involvement in the Futsal Committee, was expected to add value to the new leadership’s efforts to drive improvements.
“I hope my election this time as vice-president 1 will add value to the President’s administration.
“The experience I have gained from administering state associations and serving in FAM, including on the Futsal Committee, will hopefully help make a positive and significant contribution to improving governance at FAM,” he told a press conference after the Second FAM Extraordinary General Meeting (EGM) of 2026 here today.
Earlier, Rosmadi was declared vice-president 1 after securing a majority vote in the FAM Executive Committee election for the remainder of the 2025-2029 term.
In the election held in conjunction with the EGM, Rosmadi polled 15 votes to defeat Mohd Firdaus Mohamed and Syed Yazid Syed Omar, who received five votes each.
Meanwhile, Datuk N. Saaran was elected vice-president 3 after securing 18 votes, while his challenger Afizal Abu Othman received seven votes.
The vice-president 2 position is automatically held by the Malaysian Football League (MFL) president in accordance with Article 33 (2) of the FAM Statute, and was therefore not contested today.
