KUALA LUMPUR: The Royal Selangor Club (RSC) is set to host the 14th Royal Selangor Club Interclub Invitational Darts Tournament at its historic Dataran Merdeka clubhouse from Oct 10 to 11, marking both a sporting weekend and a major milestone in the institution’s history.
This year’s competition coincides with the official celebration of a lease extension securing the heritage club’s Dataran Merdeka home through to 2086, ensuring its preservation for sports, community, and culture for the next 60 years.
A total of 32 teams representing 20 premier clubs and institutions, including the Royal Lake Club, the Royal Port Dickson Yacht Club, and the Malaysian Bar, will compete across two days for the top honors. Backed by corporate sponsors and personal donations from RSC members, the tournament boasts a total prize pool of RM6,100.00.
The host club enters the tournament with a strong line-up, led by former national champions Victor Poulose and Connie Loo. They are joined by RSC’s rising talent, S S Ruben, who arrives on the back of a victory at the Altis Unseeded Challenge Final Series.
Speaking ahead of the event, RSC sports chairman Jimi Low emphasised the dual significance of this year’s gathering.
“We are incredibly proud to welcome the finest darts talent from across the country to our historic grounds,” said Low.
“This 14th edition is doubly special as we not only showcase elite sportsmanship with legends like Victor and Connie alongside emerging talents like Ruben, but we also celebrate the securing of our Dataran Merdeka home until 2086, preserving this iconic legacy for generations to come.”
Founded in 1884, the Royal Selangor Club stands as one of Malaysia’s oldest and most prestigious social and athletic institutions, serving as a hub for sporting tradition and community connection for over a century.
