A long-awaited project to bring water to the Chaudhary Bansi Lal University (CBLU), Bhiwani, is in the final phase, Vice-Chancellor Prof Deepti Dharmani said here today.
The VC said it will give a major boost to infrastructure at the university as the Rs 5.53-crore canal-based drinking water project will pave the way for uninterrupted supply of potable water to the campus. The initiative is expected to significantly enhance the quality of campus life for thousands of students, faculty members, employees and visitors.
The construction work of the project’s pumping station was inaugurated by the Vice-Chancellor in the presence of Registrar Dr Bhavna Sharma and officials of the University’s Engineering Wing. The project is slated for completion within the next two to three months.
There will be a pumping station at the Nigana Feeder and a 2.3-km long pipeline will bring canal water directly to the university’s waterworks facility. Simultaneously, the construction of critical water-storage infrastructure is also being undertaken expeditiously. This includes a 7,500 KL raw-water reservoir, a 1,500 KL underground treated-water tank and a 230 KL fire-water storage tank, all of which will collectively ensure efficient water management and distribution across the campus.
Prof Dharmani thanked Chief Minister Nayab Singh Saini and Irrigation and Water Resources Minister Shruti Choudhry for their support in facilitating the project.
Since its relocation to the Prem Nagar campus in 2021, the university has relied on temporary arrangements, including water tankers, to meet its daily requirements.
