However, the accused Ahmad Jamil Md Saru pleaded not guilty after all charges were read in front of judge Datuk Ahmad Kamal Arifin Ismail in the Johor Bahru magistrate's court here on Wednesday.
Based on the charge sheets, the senior RTD enforcement assistant was accused of receiving a bribe worth RM27,600 through an online transfer from Sivan Sakthi Maju Enterprise company manager N PP Vijayan.
The 40-year-old man was charged with the offence at a bank branch in Jalan Sulaiman, Muar between Jan 26, 2016 and March 24, 2019.
The accused was not represented from lawyers.
The court allowed the accused to a bail of RM6,000 with a guarantor.
The accused was ordered to report himself every month to the MACC office and had to surrender his passport to the court officers.
The case will be heard again on Sept 20 to surrender documents and to appoint a lawyer.
The case is investigated under Section 17(a) of the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) Act 2009 and can be charged under Section 24 of the same Act.
